How to Stand Firm in a World of Chaos

“In the world you will have tribulation, but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” – John 16:33
Life feels like it’s spiraling out of control. Wars, violence, deception, and natural disasters seem to be increasing every day. Maybe you’ve scrolled through the news and felt overwhelmed. Maybe you’re questioning, “How do I make sense of all this?”

The truth is, Jesus already warned us about these things. In Matthew 24, He told us that before His return, the world would experience wars, famines, persecution, and false teachings that could even deceive God’s elect. Sounds familiar, right?

But history teaches us something powerful: God always prepares His people for crisis.

Lessons from the Past: Blame the Prophet
In 2 Kings 6, the people of Israel were in crisis—under siege, starving, and hopeless. Instead of seeking God, they blamed Elisha, the prophet. The same thing happened to Jeremiah, John the Baptist, and even Jesus—truth-bearers are often attacked when the world is in turmoil.

Fast forward to today: Christians who stand for truth are being ridiculed and labeled. We are told to be quiet, to blend in, to stop talking about sin and obedience. But Jesus said we would be hated for His name's sake.

The Battle is Spiritual
The deception isn’t just about news headlines. It’s a war over what we believe. The enemy is working overtime to make sure Christians doubt God’s Word. That’s why it’s so important to stand firm in the Law of God and the words of His prophets.
If we don’t know Scripture for ourselves, we will fall for the counterfeits. And Jesus warned that in the last days, the deception will be so strong that even the elect could be deceived (Matthew 24:24).

How to Stand on the Promises of God
So, how do we navigate all this? Jesus gave us the answer:
  • Stay in the Word – The Bible is our guide through the darkness.
  • Be filled with the Holy Spirit – Only God can help us discern truth from lies.
  • Hold onto the Law and the Prophets – God speaks through both His commandments and His messengers.
  • Don’t Fear Persecution – If they persecuted Jesus, they will persecute His followers. Stand firm.

Are You Ready?
The storm is coming. We must decide now where we stand. Will we compromise when things get hard? Or will we cling to the truth, no matter what?

Jesus promised, “I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:20). No matter how dark things get, He is still in control. Stand with Him.
