Are You Lingering at Babylon’s Ball?
“Come out of her, my people, so that you will not share in her sins or receive her plagues.” – Revelation 18:4
The story of Cinderella is a childhood favorite—a girl caught in a world that wasn’t meant for her, a ball that offered temporary glamour, and a midnight deadline that changed everything.
But what if Cinderella’s story is a metaphor for our own spiritual lives?
Today, the world is the ball, and many Christians are so distracted by life’s pleasures, entertainment, and success that they ignore the warning signs of prophecy. Midnight is approaching. Are we ready for what happens when the clock strikes twelve?
The Distractions of Babylon’s Ball
Revelation 18 warns us that Babylon—the symbol of the corrupt world system under Satan’s control—is offering a dangerous wine that keeps people spiritually drunk and unaware of the times we are living in.
"Come out of her, my people..." (Revelation 18:4)
But what is the wine of Babylon that is keeping us so distracted?
1. Love of Self (2 Timothy 3:2)
Selfishness is at an all-time high. Social media fuels narcissism, entitlement, and comparison, leading people away from humility and service. Instead of being Christ-centered, many have become self-centered.
2. Love of Money (2 Timothy 3:2)
Materialism is consuming the world. People chase success, careers, and wealth, forgetting that everything on this earth is temporary. Jesus warned: “What will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, but loses his own soul?” (Mark 8:36)
3. Pleasure Over God (2 Timothy 3:4)
Entertainment, sports, social media, and worldly pleasures have replaced devotion to God. Churches are empty, but stadiums are full. Many prioritize vacations, concerts, and hobbies over spending time with Jesus.
4. Spiritual Apathy (2 Timothy 3:5)
Paul warned of people “having a form of godliness but denying its power.” Many claim to be Christian but lack a true, living relationship with Jesus. They go through the motions but are not spiritually awake.
Midnight is Coming
"At midnight the cry rang out: ‘Here’s the bridegroom! Come out to meet Him!’" (Matthew 25:6)
Jesus compared His return to a midnight cry, catching the world by surprise. Those who were spiritually awake were ready—but those who had been distracted were left out.
The Great Controversy (p. 636) tells us:
"At midnight, God will manifest His power for the deliverance of His people, and the voice of God will announce from heaven, 'It is done.'"
For many, midnight will come too late—because they lingered too long at the ball.
How to Leave Babylon’s Ball Before It’s Too Late
Are You Ignoring the Clock?
In the fairy tale, Cinderella ran out of time. She was so caught up in the moment that she ignored the warning—until it was too late.
Sadly, many are doing the same thing with their salvation.
“There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.” – Proverbs 14:12
The time to leave Babylon is now. The final moments of this world’s history are unfolding before our eyes. Don’t wait until the midnight cry to realize you’re not ready.
Will you be awake when Jesus returns? Or will you be caught lingering at the ball?
Take Action Today!
Surrender fully to Jesus and let Him wake you up.
Step out of Babylon’s distractions and focus on eternity.
Warn others that time is running out!
"Behold, I am coming quickly!" – Revelation 22:12
